As both a businessman and a community activist, I have had the unique opportunity to witness first-hand the many and diverse challenges faced by the Johnson County Commission. Whether it is managing a budget or creating new programs, I have enjoyed being “at the table” to identify solutions and brainstorm new ways of doing business.
I have proudly served as Johnson County Commissioner for District 3 since January 2013 and was recently elected vice-chairman of the Commission. Prior to serving the County, I served as a member of the Blue Valley Board of Education for eight years, serving two years as vice-president and two years as president.
Since being elected Commissioner in 2013, I have served as liaison to two local zoning boards, including Aubrey Township and Springhill Township. I also serve as liaison to the Fire District #2 board of directors and am a voting member of the Johnson County Parks and Recreation Commission. In January 2016, I was elected chairman of the Kansas City Area Transit Authority (KCATA) and also serve as a member of the Greater Kansas City Convention and Visitor’s Bureau board of directors. I am a graduate of Leadership Overland Park and in 2011 was awarded the MARC (Metro Area Regional Council) Leadership Award for outstanding leadership in the field of transportation.
Although my passions lie in the fields of education and transportation, I am equally committed to advocating for our growing senior population and ensuring that the outstanding quality of life currently enjoyed in Johnson County is maintained. During my first term in office, I have been a proponent of enhancing our human services department to better serve our most vulnerable citizens and have supported a change to and improvement in our mental health services. Also, during the last three years, I have been a strong advocate for enhancing our County bus system by linking it to our regional transportation system.
I am co-founder and partner in Keystone Futures, a management consulting and recruiting company. My wife, Amber, and I are members of Ascension Catholic Church and have three children, Marcus, Katie and Brady. I consider it a privilege to be able to represent you and your interests on a county level. My goal is to represent the majority of voices in the fairest way possible. Thank you for your support!
